Founded 80 years ago by two creative schoolteachers who shared a passion for beautiful ceramic painting, Marlborough Tiles is now in it’s third generation of family ownership, and their factory on the bank of the River Kennet in Wiltshire is one of the last remaining traditional tile manufacturers in England. Some of the tiles are handmade, others are produced from moulds which are cast from hand made tiles. All decoration is done by hand directly onto the raw glaze, a technique called majolica. As a company of makers, artists, technicians and designers, Marlborough Tiles are leaders in contemporary tiles – pioneering new colours, new shapes, new techniques and new concepts. Their experienced team is always on hand to offer a design service or tiling advice.
